Chemical research of the mineral springs of Berg and Göppingen, Stuttgart 1786
The
inaugural dissertation of Karl Friedrich Kielmeyer (1765-1844), a
natural scientist at his time high renown and praised by Goethe, here
is presented the first time by a modern Latin-German edition. Kielmeyer
describes the strictly systematical analysis of two mineral springs and
discusses their medical applications. The difficult scientific
terminology, which still contains alchemistic terms and is influenced
by the phlogiston theory, in our edition is explained in detail. The
German translation contains the German special terms used at
Kielmeyer’s time which in the commentary are fully explained by the notions of modern chemistry.
All
people interested for the history of sciences, specially for the
history of analytic chemistry, as well as those who are interested for
the life and work of an outstanding scholar of the German Romantic era,
should get themselves this latin-german edition.
